Old Colony CrossFit is pleased to announce the addition of CrossFit Kids to our schedule.

Our program launched on Saturday, September 27, 2014 under the direction of Rana Rachwal.

“CrossFit Kids was founded in 2004 by Jeff and Mikki Martin and is a method for teaching Greg Glassman’s CrossFit to children, ages 3-18. Based on the principle of Mechanics => Consistency => Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance, and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means that consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.

CrossFit Kids is meant to be BIG fun for all ages. Broad-Inclusive-General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. Further, the needs of second graders and high school varsity wrestlers differ by degree and not kind; the program is scalable for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids. CrossFit Kids is designed to be minimalist; it is inexpensive and often requires little or no equipment, allowing a wide array of socio economic groups an opportunity to be physically fit and physically active throughout their lives.”

OCCF’s CrossFit Kids program is being run by Rana Rachwal. Rana is certified in CrossFit Kids, CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Gymnastics, and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance. Rana will be heading up the Monday and Saturday classes. Donnie Murrant will be heading up Thursday classes. Donnie is certified in CrossFit Kids, and a CrossFit Level 1 trainer.

***Update 7/27/15: our Kid’s program will be taking the month of August off. Enjoy the rest of your summer! Get out there and PLAY – learn a new sport, ride your bikes, swim, run, jump…and that goes for you adults too! See you in the fall.***

**NEW SPRING/SUMMER SCHEDULE – effective 4/1/15 – we will be running classes only on Saturday’s through the spring and summer. All Kids memberships will revert to a punch-pass system through the summer.

Pricing is as follows:
OCCF Members: 4 visit punch pass – $40.00
Non-Members: 4 visit punch pass – $65.00
*15% off for 1st additional child; 20% off for additional children
*punch passes automatically renew after the 4th class is used.
