CrossFit is many things. Primarily, it’s a fitness methodology developed by Coach Greg Glassman over several decades. He was the first person in history to define fitness in a meaningful, measurable way (increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains).

CrossFit itself is defined as that which optimizes fitness (constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity).

More importantly, CrossFit is the community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together. In fact, the communal aspect of CrossFit is a key component of why it’s so effective.

Why Old Colony CrossFit?

I opened this box with one goal in mind – to forge better lives; fit, happy, healthy lives…We (the entire OCCF staff) want our members to understand that “fit” comes in many shapes and sizes, abilities and backgrounds… weI feel we have fostered a very diverse community & it makes us incredibly proud that so many people have TRUSTED us with their health…we want our members to know that we are HUMAN, that we do not wear capes, nor are we by any means better than them, and that our journey has, by no means, been easier than theirs…we not only do not put unrealistic expectations on them, we do not put them on ourselves…if they don’t see us struggle (even just a little) then they expect not to ever struggle…we work hard to keep it real & honest and understand that everyone learns at a different pace…we use cues, drills, and whatever is required to help them learn, progress…and we adapt as needed…you can trust us with your journey & know that we are with you every step of the way….
